A Little Bit About Me
Hello! Welcome to Sophomore English at Providence HS. I'm Mrs. Jenkins. I grew up in SE Texas on the Gulf Coast - the oldest of four - I have three younger brothers. I also have several nephews and nieces. I moved to Charlotte in 2006.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in English, National Board Certification for Adolescent/Young Adult English Language Arts, and endorsements in AP Language and Composition and AP Capstone: Research. I am also currently pursuing a Master of Education at Clemson University #gotigers.
My husband is an AP English and IB Philosophy teacher at another high school in Charlotte - we got married on author Henry David Thoreau's birthday because we are that kind of English nerds and Thoreau's mantra "simplicity, simplicity, simplicity" is important to us as a reminder about balance in all things.
Speaking of...I love reading (obvious career prerequisite) - but please don't ask me to pick a favorite book as that would be impossible. Star Wars, Star Trek, Hogwarts, and the Marvel universes are some of my favorite realms...most of which is thanks to my Dad whom I would curl up with and watch Star Trek growing up. I have also seen every Star Wars film in the theater with my Dad.
My husband and I have two dogs - Atticus, a Rottweiler (yep - after the literary Atticus), and Juno, a Siberian Husky (named after the goddess not the movie). We enjoy hiking in the NC mountains as well as traveling as much and as often as we can, particularly as I am a shutterbug, and enjoy having the opportunity to take photographs of people and places all over the world. I also enjoy working with our student photographers here at Providence.
I am excited to work with each of you this year! #OneProv
